Your partner in
sustainable growth
Hodler Group is a leading investor in the Central and Eastern European agri-food sector. With nearly two decades of experience, we are committed to transforming regional agribusinesses into competitive, future-ready market leaders.
About Us
We execute targeted investments through both proprietary capital and private equity funds across Hungary, Romania, and Serbia. Hodler Asset Management currently manages two private equity funds with a total capital base of EUR 160 million.
The region’s agri-food industry is undergoing structural transformation: fragmented markets, limited consolidation, and generational transitions define the landscape. We see opportunity where others see risk. Our strategy is built on corporate consolidation, strengthening value chains, and driving technological renewal — creating long-term value for our partners.

Our Values
Our experience has been built at leading Central European corporations, investment firms, and advisory companies. Beyond institutional capital, our team is also active as private investors across multiple sectors, reflecting internationally competitive expertise and business competences.
We typically invest between EUR 5–50 million in equity per transaction. For larger opportunities, we leverage our extensive co-investor network to scale capital flexibly. Based on our strategic focus, transactions in the EUR 5–15 million range represent our core sweet spot.
We believe lasting value creation requires active and responsible ownership. We primarily seek majority positions but remain open to joint-control or minority investments where strategic alignment and shared values are present. In most cases, we build long-term, value-based partnerships rather than short-term investments.
We are convinced that progress requires an open and forward-looking mindset. Every investment is approached with creative, solution-oriented thinking, as innovation lies at the core of value creation. We actively support our portfolio companies in adopting modern technologies that unlock their full growth potential.
We believe long-term value creation must integrate financial performance with environmental and social responsibility. In the agri-food sector, this means strengthening sustainability across the entire value chain. Our investments support renewable energy adoption, animal welfare, and digital traceability solutions — enhancing efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainable growth.
We believe one of the greatest challenges facing the agri-food sector is the migration of talented young professionals to other industries. Our group plays an active role in three distinguished university talent development programs, supporting the professional growth of the sector’s future leaders and helping them realize their potential.
Team
Our Investment Strategy
The Hodler Group primarily invests in the agri-food sector across Central and Eastern Europe, focusing on companies with complex operations where, in addition to capital, professional expertise and active ownership are required.A core element of our investment strategy is close collaboration with founders and management teams to support companies in reaching their next stage of development.
We primarily invest in entrepreneurially driven companies on a growth trajectory, supported by the following structural drivers:
- Succession-driven consolidation – Aging owners and limited succession planning accelerate consolidation.
- Fragmented value chains – Lack of scale and integration creates efficiency and consolidation opportunities.
- Rising capital intensity – Increasing capital needs require financial expertise and optimized structures.
- Technological modernization gap – Outdated systems create value through digitalization and automation.
- Global megatrends – Sustainability, changing consumption, and supply chain shifts reshape the industry.
- Food security priority – Government focus on domestic production strengthens sector relevance.
Our focus covers the entire agri-food value chain in its broadest sense, including all related and supporting industries.

Portfolio
The Hodler Group was built on entrepreneurial foundations. Starting from our founder’s grain trading business, our portfolio has expanded over the years through targeted investments, with these companies forming the backbone of the Group.
The establishment of two private equity funds in partnership with Hungarian institutional investors enabled the execution of a consciously designed and structured acquisition strategy, which we continue to follow today. Our portfolio companies now cover the full agri-food value chain across Central and Eastern Europe, reflecting both our operational heritage and our role as an active private equity investor.
